I'm leaving in three days for Namibia, Africa, on a mission trip. My friends moved there as missionaries a year ago, (they took the picture above), and I'll be staying with them for two weeks. I probably will not be able to do any blogging until I return on July 12. I'll be sure to post about my adventures when I get back; complete with lots of pictures!
(PS. Please pray for our safety, particularly from diseases, and that God would use this trip for His glory.)
I just saw the film, Come What May, produced by Advent Film Group, and I wish there were more movies like this. This is the debut film of a brand-new, Christian film making company. Come What May was produced largely by home school families in Virginia, who were instructed and overseen by professionals. Advent Film Group calls itself "an independent film production and distribution group established to create excellent Christian films by raising up excellent Christian filmmakers". (http://www.adventfilmgroup.com/About_Advent.html) Of course, since Come What May is AFG's first film, the acting and a few other qualities aren't as good as they could be; but the content is priceless. "Do what's right... come what may" is the theme of the movie. It's a story about faith, standing for what you believe in, and doing what's right; even when it's hard.
I highly encourage you to support this film group and its mission. Watch Come What May! We can expect even better quality films coming from AFG in the near future. I can't wait to see where it will be in ten years. Please invest in this group by viewing the movie. God willing, AFG will grow and expand in its mission for God, and continue to produce films that glorify Him.

A message to all teenagers: you are possibly being bombarded by a dangerous, unseen weapon that can change your whole life for the worst.
That weapon is low expectations.

For the next few weeks, I'm going to do a series of book reviews on some of my favorite books. I'll start with the series that first got me interested in fantasy: The Door Within Trilogy by Wayne Thomas Batson.
The Door Within Trilogy is a Christian fantasy series, written in the allegorical style of The Chronicles of Narnia, but with a modern twist. Young Aidan Thomas, the main character of the series, is about to enter high school when he discovers three mysterious scrolls in his basement. They beckon him to another world of knights, dragons, and war, and he finds himself wrapped up in a dangerous mission: to save the kingdom of Mithegard from the evil clutches of Paragory.
The trilogy continues with Aidan, Antionette, and Robby, as each young teen has a turn in the adventures of the mirror world. The books are filled with action, mystery, and peril, and I found them impossible to put down. Christians will love the clear allegory and good Biblical messages, and any reader will enjoy the nail-biting, page-turning suspense that keeps you up late at night; waiting to find out what happens next. A surprising twist at the end wraps up a rewarding, worthwhile read. I highly recommend this series!
